Wordle was sold to the New York Times in January and since moved to NYT website. But it’s still free The Times changed some of the original answers. After the sale, some have feared Wordle could be put behind a paywall from the subscription-based news organization.

If you’re nervous about losing Wordle, don’t panic. You can download the game now to play for free on your computer, phone or tablet forever – or more precisely, until the list of 2,315 Wordle answers expires in October 2027.

Twitter user Aaron Rieke posted a thread explains how to run Wordle entirely in your web browser. Technically, you don’t need internet to play Wordle as all future daily words of the game are included right on the website (even on the NYT).
