The 2022 Annual Trend Report marks the 11th edition of Voices’ year-end annual reports, assembled using insights from generalized surveys and internal data to identify and forecast trends as the next season approaches. new Year.

“2022 will be about incorporating what we’ve learned over the past two years, such as adapting quickly to change and learning to work and play safely. Now that we’ve settled into the new remote and hybrid working environment, brands are looking for ways to both stay connected and do it authentically, even if that means being less than perfectly polite, †Explain David Ciccarelli, founder and CEO of Voices. “Today more than ever, it is essential that brands think about what they ring like when the audience walks away from the screen and embraces more listening experiences. It is time to consider audio branding as a central element of any successful marketing strategy by 2022. “

More than 1,100 respondents shared how the world of work has evolved in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and how they plan to approach business in the future. The survey data highlighted that the traditional areas of concern for remote working – collaboration, creativity and productivity – are in fact unchanged or improved in the majority of cases compared to working on site. More brands are also working with creative freelancers, with Voices seeing a 22% increase in voiceover for internet video projects compared to 2021.

Combining survey feedback and internal data highlighted four notable trends:

  • Remote work is here to stay—More than 90% of respondents confirmed that they would always offer remote work opportunities, compared to 52% last year.
  • Independent talents are on the rise—Voices saw a 245% increase in talent signups in its marketplace in 2021.
  • The benefits of hiring freelancers are clear—31% of respondents hire freelance creative talent once a week, or more than 50 times a year.
  • Audio presents new opportunities for authentic marketing– Over 50% of those surveyed hire freelance voice actors to meet the needs of voiceover, creative projects and brand sound.
