Teton Media Works, publisher of community-focused Jackson Hole News & Guide and Jackson Hole Daily newspapers, has implemented ProImage’s NewsWayX automation workflow solution to streamline and modernize its expanding production.

With its growing portfolio of print titles, Jackson Hole, a Wyoming-based media company, needed an efficient, easy-to-use workflow management solution that could be installed and operated without major software investment, equipment and training. . Publisher Kevin Olson met with ProImage management at a Wyoming Press Association outing and quickly realized that ProImage and NewsWayX would be the right choice for his growing press business.

Producing a wide range of local daily and weekly newspapers and magazines (ranging from a circulation of 1,000 to 9,000) and high-volume national park tourist guides (between 50,000 and over 200,000 copies), Teton Media Works needed a workflow solution to simplify and streamline production. . NewsWayX does the trick. As Lewis Haddock, Head of Circulation and Prepress, puts it: “The automation, speed of processing, optimization and simplicity of the NewsWayX interface are day and night different from our old workflow.”

With NewsWayX, workflows can be designed using a simple drag-and-drop operation, allowing immense flexibility and full scalability. The HTML5 browser client provides full system access from any computer with a browser, and the integrated interface allows departments to easily track and manage production. Team members can view production progress, workflow steps, pages or plates, and perform various operations necessary for production management. The system also provides integrated production planning and imposition tools. Editing planning is done with a simple wizard or by importing a template with a single mouse click. For job tracking, NewsWayX displays production status in a layered approach, from very general production views to single file or plate status.

The simplicity of the user interface was one of the main features important to the production team at Teton Media Works. Additionally, processing time and ink optimization were also high on their list. Chuck Pate, Prepress Foreman, confirms that NewsWayX delivered on its promise: “Combined with our new CTPs, prepress production time is now much faster than before. Our workflow is twice as fast. The cloud offering allows us to use multiple RIPs and servers versus limited local servers.

Asked about the quantifiable financial benefits of the NewsWayX solution, Lewis Haddock’s answer is clear. They are seeing significant savings in the cost of ink, which is especially beneficial with the recent ink price increase. Teton Media Works also produces less waste on press due to faster registration and less ink consumption. Faster prepress turnaround and production times allow production to print many jobs more cost-effectively each day.

In addition to meeting the Teton Media Works product requirements, implementing the NewsWayX system was a “smooth and easy transition.” As with so many other ProImage installations, the customer support and sales teams get rave reviews. Again, Chuck Pate: “Customer support team response time is punctual, always friendly. Compared to the various workflows I’ve dealt with, NewsWayX takes the cake. Simplicity at its best!”
