Tesla to halt Shanghai factory production amid COVID restrictions, Bloomberg News reports

March 27 (Reuters) – Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) plans to suspend production at its Shanghai factory for at least a day, Bloomberg News reported on Sunday, as the Chinese financial hub announced it would enter a lockdown in two steps to carry out COVID-19 test.

Tesla production at the plant will be halted on Monday, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter, adding that the electric car maker has not yet informed workers whether it will extend the suspension beyond Monday.

Tesla did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

The Shanghai municipal government said on Sunday that all businesses and factories would suspend manufacturing or work remotely during the lockdown. Read more

Earlier this month, Tesla had to halt production at the factory for two days as China tightened its COVID-19 restrictions. The company then said it was doing its best to maintain production at the plant. Read more
